But please feel free to call me Jess. I have ZERO pictures of myself without my 2 girls... but I wouldn't have it any other way... this is my natural state of being! This is us, hiding from the rain, trying to catch a glimpse of the full moon rising between the clouds at the beach. My girls, not surprisingly, are big fans of massage... and they have been known to massage their friends at soccer tournaments between games. Kids are so smart.
I believe in the healing power of touch… And I believe in the body’s innate ability to heal itself. This is what lead me to become a Massage Therapist. Without a doubt, massage is the perfect union of these two thoughts. Because, I also believe that sometimes the body just needs a little reminder, a gentle nudge in the right direction (or a deep elbow or forearm applied!), to remember its natural state of being, and want to return to it – hence, the healing power of touch.
The body wants to work properly and run smoothly and is constantly communicating with us and telling us what it needs. We just need to slow down enough so we can hear it, and then take the time to listen. Once we listen, we can do the work of assisting the body and mind in their work of restoring balance, and resetting and maintaining homeostasis.
~ Did you know - the body needs 16 hugs a day (call them mini-full body massages!) to maintain homeostasis - there's that healing power of touch again! ~
Your body is truly the only place you have in which to live. It wants to take care of you. Help it help you.
I believe in working WITH my clients, not ON them, and that together we can facilitate positive changes in soft tissue that can help your body work for you and feel its best. I believe that a massage session can provide time and space to unwind and relax, but can also provide serious and legitimate health benefits - both mental and physical. Communication is key.
Many years before becoming an LMT, my journey began with a BS in Marketing, and a minor in Fine Arts. I was an event coordinator and small business owner/operator. Then, after years of knowing what the next step on my path would be, I finally surrendered to the call of massage therapy!
Now, I am proud to say that I am a Licensed Massage Therapist in NJ. I was fortunate to have been trained at Body in Mind Massage Institute, where I received a wonderfully comprehensive education from Mary, both in book and hands-on knowledge, and in her heart-felt, humble belief in healing artistry.
I am a member of ABMP (Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals).
